Use of Visual Odometry for Enhanced Localization in Agricultural Drones

Overview

In modern agricultural drone operations, accurate localization is essential for tasks like crop monitoring and aerial spraying. However, low-cost IMUs and standard GPS systems often lack the precision needed for these demanding applications. To address this challenge, a hybrid navigation system was developed using an onboard monocular camera for Visual Odometry, IMU, and GPS data, integrated with Kalman Filtering for enhanced accuracy.
